Deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used rolling bearing design. The deep, uninterrupted raceway grooves in both rings let the bearing carry radial load, axial load in either direction, and combinations of the two, while the point contact between ball and raceway keeps friction and heat low. That is why they suit high-speed rotation, low noise and low vibration duties — electric motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, household appliances and general machinery.

Design features

• Deep raceway grooves — support radial and bidirectional axial loads, not just radial load as with a shallow-groove design.
• Low friction torque — the lowest starting and running friction of any rolling bearing type, which is what makes high-speed operation practical.
• Quiet running — tight control of raceway roundness and ball grade keeps vibration and noise low, which matters for motors and appliances.
• Simple lubrication and maintenance — a single grease fill in a sealed bearing will usually last the life of the component it sits in.
• Interchangeable — metric deep groove ball bearings follow ISO boundary dimensions, so a 6205 from one maker fits where another’s does.

Variants we supply

The basic open bearing is only one option. Most orders are for a shielded or sealed variant, and the suffix on the part number tells you which:

• ZZ / 2Z — steel shields on both sides. Low drag, good for dusty environments where grease loss is not the limiting factor.
• 2RS / RS — rubber seals on both sides. Better retention of grease and exclusion of water and fine dust; slightly higher torque.
• Open — no shield, for oil lubrication or where the housing provides its own sealing.
• N, NR — snap-ring groove or snap ring on the outer ring for simplified axial location in the housing.

Series and size range

FRSZC produces the standard metric series below. Bore diameters run from miniature sizes up to roughly 260 mm depending on series; anything outside these ranges can usually be quoted as a special.

• 6000 series (extra light) — 6001 to 6052
• 6200 series (light) — 6200 to 6252
• 6300 series (medium) — 6300 to 6330
• 6400 series (heavy) — 6405 to 6420
• 62200 / 62300 series — 62201 to 62220, 62301 to 62320

Suffix and clearance notation

When you specify a bearing, the part number alone is not enough. C3 clearance is standard for most electric motor duties where the inner ring runs warmer than the outer; CN (normal) suits stationary shafts and light loads; C2 is used where noise and play must be minimal. Tolerance classes P0, P6, P5 and P4 are available, with P6 and above produced on the grinding lines shown in our workshop page.
